Funding for students is provided by firm membership along with donations from generous benefactors.

Donations are very important to help sustain the viability of our program as it benefits students. WMMIAEC is a non-profit organization, as such will provide tax benefits to donors. All donations are welcome, big or small, and can be made at any time. A donation of $2,000 sponsors a full grant for a single student.

Donations can be made via cash or check and mailed to the address provided below. Checks should be made payable to "West Michigan Minorities in Architecture & Engineering Consortium"

Why join WMMIAEC?

Our mission is to increase the number of qualified ethnic minorities and women employed in the architectural, engineering, and built environment professions throughout West Michigan.

West Michigan needs diverse perspectives.

  • We know that diverse backgrounds will foster positive change in West Michigan and bring valuable perspectives to your firm, your projects, and your community.

  • Architects, engineers, and built environment professionals have the power to physically shape our world. Historically, these professions have been majority white and male, leading to both intentional and unintentional adverse landscapes for women and minorities. We want to bring more seats to the table so that women and minorities can be heard and bring perspectives that will help create inclusive and enduring places for people of all backgrounds to thrive.

West Michigan needs more architects, engineers, and built environment professionals.

  • We provide financial support for the next generation of talented professionals in our region who may become excellent employees, partners, or clients for your firm. WMMIAEC has awarded over one hundred grants to architectural, engineering, and built environment students.

  • Our scholarship program encourages applicants to work in West Michigan, increasing employee retention and reducing brain drain in our region.

Demonstrate your firm’s commitment to diversifying our industry.

  • Many firms preach their dedication to diversity and equity. Contributing to the West Michigan Minorities in Architecture & Engineering Consortium (WMMIAEC) is a tangible commitment to furthering these goals, aligning your firm’s words and actions in a meaningful way.
